Welcome to the website of Blackpool Transport Angling Club.

Blackpool Transport or Blackpool Corporation Transport as it was then set the foundations of our fishing club on the Fylde coast early in 1972.

Co workers and also keen anglers the employees working on the buses and trams were of various trades, drivers, conductors, inspectors and shed men.  Obviously the thing that they had in common was their love of fishing.

As time progressed and the corporation took a back seat of the transport directorship the club name of Blackpool Transport Angling Club has stayed the same as specified in the club constitution.

The angling club badge recognises its roots in Blackpool by depicting Blackpool Tower and the waves of the sea as well as a fish in the logo make up.

In those earlier days of the club it was primarily a sea fishing club as the Fylde coast was renowned for its cod and whiting shoals. The club used to have regular matches on the North Pier and the sea wall with away matches at Arnside and monthly to various locations in Scotland.

As the sea fishing started to decline and anglers within the club also had an interest in coarse fishing the club rented a couple of ponds and so the club then opened its doors to non transport members to finance these rents.

The club is now primarily a freshwater angling club with a membership onwards of 190, this has resulted in a busy match calendar with a dedicated following of match men although the club does have a high level of pleasure anglers on board.

To this day the club men still compete for trophies dedicated to the anglers which founded our club and so the memories of these people are carried on in age old tradition.

As our members are aware we have a selection of waters situated close together within easy reach of Blackpool.  The waters are maintained to a high standard which are improved upon each year giving a visual and angling pleasure to the members.

Most importantly of all the club manages to maintain a friendly atmosphere at matches which makes for a happy yet competitive spirit among our membership.

The major change to the club is that now it is not associated to the transport company at all, the name remains the same as it was laid down in our constitution.

We have come a long way from those humble beginnings and now boast Five well stocked waters.

Now in our 38th year we are a well established angling club respected by all other angling clubs on the Fylde coast, to take us further into the 21st century we now offer this website to our members along side our magazine to keep our members up to date with any changes that occur within our angling community.

The angling club badge recognises its roots in Blackpool by depicting Blackpool Tower and the waves of the sea as well as a fish in the logo make up.
